Swing
Analysis
Video swing analysis can show you how certain
tendencies in the golf swing will point out particular physical
limitations. If we can address these biomechanical faults, we can
help the golfer swing better. Those of you who are golf pros know
that you can tell somebody to do a particular move. The student
understands what he’s supposed to do, but cannot execute the
move. You can yell, scream, and explain till you are blue in the
face, but nothing works. The person cannot follow your instructions
because their body can’t make that move due to: tightness,
inflexibility, weakness, or lack of stability. I like to use video
to point out body weaknesses that can create certain swing flaws.
Video is also good for pre- and post-treatment. If you have ever
tried to teach golf, you know that it is not easy to detect minor
swing problems.
Personalized Analysis
After
videotaping your swing, I focus on two viewpoints; down the line
and frontal. From a down-the-line view you are able to see the biomechanical
limitations that will affect the golfers consistency or how straight
the ball will go. From the frontal view, we might find physical
limitations that affect the golfer’s power or how far he will
hit the golf ball. Many things can affect power and consistency;
physical limitations are some of the most critical.
Once you know what they are, correcting them becomes much easier.
The goal is to not only get you to play better, but pain free as
well. Video will point out physical limitations that are detrimental
to the golfer’s overall health, as well as his ability to
play the game now and later on in life.
