What are
Core Exercises?
Here are series of exercises, designed
specifically for the golfer that needs to build core muscles. Even
if you think that you don’t need to, I recommend doing a few
to stay core conditioned. There are very few golfers who will not
benefit greatly with stronger core muscles. The core muscles are
designed to stabilize the spine and they also provide the power
in the properly executed golf swing. There are a few very good core
exercises listed in the Digital
Drills sections of this web site and also in the
Body Friendly Golf Book. If you you refer to the "Golf
Swing Analysis" and the "Body Analysis"
chapters in the Body Friendly Golf Book you will find different
parts of the swing and the body are addressed by different types
of exercises. The swing drills specifically address the parts of
the swing that can create problems in the body. The functional training
exercises specifically address the weaknesses and flexibility issues
in the body that will create swing
problems.
For a more detailed approach to creating
a customized golf fitness program, please refer to The Body
Friendly Golf book.
